Are you ready for a wild female filmmaker whose movies really go there? Then let's hike our way to Poland to check out the twisted work of Polish writer and director Agnieszka Smoczynska whose growing film resume impresses the entire world.

Agnieszka Smoczynska was born in the late 70s in Wroclaw, Dolnoslaskie, Poland. She began making short films in 2003 and kept that up for about a decade before she tried her hand at Polish TV and feature films.

The Lure is her horror-comedy which put her on the map. It was her debut feature and it showed the world what she could do! And what could she do? She could direct a lot of sexy Polish ladies in a variety of nude scenes and mix fairytales with twisted reality to entice, to shock, and to titillate audiences.

This is a wildly imaginative film that puts mermaids in Warsaw. Two mermaid sisters are hired to be cabaret performers - one sister yearns to be accepted in the moral world and wants to fall in love like she's The Little Mermaid. The other mermaid wants to eat mortals.

Michalina Olszanska and Marta Mazurek play the sisters who get to be nude several times in the film! When they are in "human form" with legs instead of fins, their crotches and cracks are covered with prosthetics.

Her follow-up film was Fugue which was even more popular than The Lure. With these two films under her belt, the international community took interest in Agnieszka.

In 2018, she directed an episode of the series 1983 which is available on Netflix. It is a Polish crime series where Michalina Olszanska should be arrested for being so damned sexy.

She also contributed to the Polish anthology film The Field Guide to Evil which tells modern takes on myths and folklore from around the world - much of it being horrifying. This is a pretty cool idea, especially considering how a lot of the folklore involved sexy women. She directed the portion called "The Kindler and The Virgin". Shockingly there wasn't nudity in her segment, but there sure was in some others!

Her most recent film 2022's The Silent Twins is the first to feature English-speaking actresses because it is based on the very true and twisted story of identical twins from Wales named June and Jennifer Gibbons who chose to only communicate with one another. There is no nudity in the film, but I think it is promising that she chose this project that stars Tamara Lawrence and Letitia Wright as the twins.

Does this mean that she will do other projects like this? Projects that are in English and star some of our favorite actresses? I certainly hope so!

In the meantime, we all have to wait to see what her next project is. She is happily married to actor Andrzej Konopka and the couple have two children. He tends to act in some of her films, including a major role in The Lure.
