The daughter of a hotshot surgeon, the sultry-eyed, whippet-thin brunette Dana Wynter was born under the name "Dagmar Wynter" in Berlin, Germany, slightly before the rise of the Nazis, but she was lucky enough to grow up in London, England. As a teen, Dana lived in Southern Rhodesia and later studied medicine South Africa's Rhodes University in 1949. That's where she got her start as actress, initially play a young blind girl in a school stage production of Through a Glass Darkly. But after a year of school, Dana knew that she was destined for a path to stardom, so she left her medical studies, returned to England, and dove headfirst into an acting career. Dana had discovered a higher calling — that of a big Hollywood movie celebrity. Onscreen, Dana got her start in works such as Night Without Stars (1951), White Corridors (1951), Bikini Baby (1951), The Woman's Angle (1952), and The Crimson Pirate (1952). She received star billing in features that started with Lady Godiva Rides Again (1951) and moved up through Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) and Airport (1970). But Wynter's wild and wonderful ride was crowned with a regal slip of nip during a bed-top grapple beneath a huffing honkie in If He Hollers, Let Him Go (1968). Her last credits include works such as The Royal Romance of Charles and Diana (1982) and The Return of Ironside (1993). Dana passed away in 2011 at the age of 79 after a long, successful career. Who knew that Wynter could be so hot!
