This Belgian beauty started her career out in 1968 as a director, starting with Saute ma ville. She also made her acting debut in that particular film, but her bread and butter has always been behind the camera, as well as penning her own flicks, including the incredibly daring, at least for its time, Je, tu, il, elle in 1974. In it, Chantal Akerman plays “Elle,” the girl who falls for another chick, after which they engage in some seriously hot lesbianic action, all whilst completely naked. It marked a renaissance in filmmaking, at least on the level of normalizing homosexual relationships, which before then was strictly taboo, so make sure and check it out.
