Pedro Almodovar is reportedly doing his very first English-language feature film. Not only is the critically acclaimed Spanish director about to direct an English film for the first time, but he has also cast two gorgeous actresses in it who have both gone nude before.
He experimented with English with two short films in the past few years, including The Human Voice starring Tilda Swinton. Now the Spanish master of sex and campiness on camera has cast the one and only Julianne Moore. Julianne Moore won't be alone. She will be joined by her co-star, Tilda. Almodovar does tend to work with the same actresses over and over again and it appears that he intends to do that with English-speaking actresses, too.
I can't help but think the director saw Todd Haynes' latest film May December and was wowed by Julianne's performance in it. Regardless, Tilda and Julianne both feel like actresses Pedro would love. He has a habit of working with the same actors over and over, like Penelope Cruz. He has previously worked with Penelope Cruz who starred in his 2021 feature Parallel Mothers where she made out with her female co-star. Hot!
If you don't know anything about Pedro Almodovar, then you might not know that his films are filled with sex and nudity. His wild 1989 film Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! was one of the very first films slapped with an NC-17 rating and briefly banned in America due to its sexually explicit content. The film is about an escaped mental patient who kidnaps a porn star.
According to Almodovar, American censors were worried that the film would inspire men to kidnap women they lust after. That seems very extreme. Are they sure it wasn't for bushtastic scenes like this:
His 1986 film Matador was also given an NC-17 rating once it was released to American audiences. An ex-matador played by Antonio Banderas has sex with gorgeous women like Assumpta Serna who shows off bush, buns, and breasts in several sexually explicit scenes.
And those are just TWO of his films from the 80s. He has also given us gorgeous women going nude in 1993's Kika where the visionary director showcased Spanish beauty Bibi Anderson's full frontal body as she stood on a balcony, among other babes in the buff.
Besides Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!, his most famous films that crossed over into American cinemas are Volver, Talk To Her, and All About My Mother. His most twisted film might be The Skin I Live In which is a fascinating and sexy body horror starring Banderas (see? I told you he works with the same actors again and again) and Elena Anaya.
