Polly Shannon in The HungerNaked vampire girls go wild as Showtime premieres its TV series adaptation of The Hunger on this date in 1997.

The Hunger started out, in 1983, as an elegant, proto-goth-girl vampire movie featuring a Catherine Deneuve and Susan Sarandon lesbian scene for the immortal ages.

Gloomy gals and the guys who dig their coffins sank their fangs so deep into the film that, 14 years later, cable's Showtime network spun it off into a late-night erotic-anthology series.

Overseen by original director Tony Scott, along with his filmmaking brother Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner), the TV version of The Hunger showcased numerous supernatural sirens stripping nude and doing what comes smolderingly to creatures of the night.

Among the vamps unmasked on the show were: Lena Headey (of 300), Polly Shannon (of HBO's Rome), Amanda De Cadenet, April Telek, Amanda Ryan, Alice Poon, Marie-Jose Croze, and Cline Bonnier.
