The Big Cigar (2024-)

Adapted from a 2012 Playboy article by Joshua Bearman, this series focuses on Black Panther Party co-founder Huey P. Newton (André Holland) as over four weeks as he attempts to depart Los Angeles for Havana before the FBI can arrest him on a bogus murder charge. Helping him is movie producer Bert Schnieder (Alessandro Nivola) and his business partner Steve Blauner (P. J. Byrne). They originally wanted to make a biopic about Huey’s life starring Richard Pryor (Inny Clemons) but ended up using their status in Hollywood as a cover to aid in his escape. The terrific Tiffany Boone plays Huey’s girlfriend Gwen Fontaine and gives us a stellar look at her bra-clad cleavage while the two swap spit to the sultry sounds of Al Green. That’s not a big cigar in our pocket, we’re just happy to see her!
