Treasure hunting leads to tragedy in the 1999 television movie Stan Becker – Echte Freunde. When the titular character (Heinz Hoenig) and his buddy Oskar (Rolf Zacher) head to the sewers of Berlin to try and find some valuable artifacts stolen during World War II, they get more than their treasure map promised. Instead of striking it rich like they had hoped, Stan and Oskar stumble upon the body of a deceased woman. Shortly after their startling discovery, the fortune hunters are thrown in the slammer and charged with murder. While serving time, Oskar is found mysteriously killed in his prison cell. Stan knows it’s only a matter of time before those responsible for his friend’s death come for him. You won’t need a map to find the real treasure of the film.
