Shithouse (2020)

Following in the footsteps of The Chumscrubber (2005) and Buttwhistle (2014), Shithouse (2020) is your typical bildungsroman—that's a fancy word for a coming of age story—with an odd title. It's more to grab your attention and shock you with its forthright nature and in your face urgency! Alex (Cooper Raiff) is a lonely freshman having a hard time connecting with anyone, male or female, thus far in his first year of college, preferring to spend his time talking on the phone to his mom (Amy Landecker) and feeling homesick. One night, he decides to take the plunge and go to a party at the legendary titular college house where he makes an unexpected connection with his sophomore RA Maggie (Dylan Gelula), who has just had an Alexander sized terrible, horrible, yadda yadda day. What these two students from polar opposite ends of the spectrum in every respect—particularly their upbringing—soon discover is that we're all a lot more alike than we seem to think, especially at first. College is a wild time and these two crazy kids need find a comfortable medium in between Maggie's hard-partying socially extroverted ways and Alex's more reserved, down home ways. While the film's title might lead you to believe we'll get some kind of skin, there's none to be found. Star Dylan Gelula keeps her bra on during a sex scene, though you can catch a pokie at the 25 minute mark, while Amy Landecker goes braless and shows lots of leg while snapping a selfie! The utter lack of nudity in this movie is definitely in Mr. Skin's Shithouse at the moment!
