He’s been retired since 1984, but stylish sexploitation auteur-turned-hardcore-director Radley Metzger is back on the filmmaking scene with a trio of sexciting nude developments! Metzger is responsible for dozens of softcore and hardcore nude movies, both as a director and as founder of Audubon Films, which distributed exploitation classics like I Spit on Your Grave (1978) and I, A Woman (1965).
First, Radley’s getting the modern art treatment with a retrospective of his work at the prestigious UCLA Film Television Archives. Dubbed Smooth Operator: The Opulent Eroticism of Radley Metzger, the series 
runs June 2-17 and will screen 7 of Metzger’s best-known films: The Lickerish Quartet (1970), Camille 2000 (1969), Therese and Isabelle (1968), Carmen, Baby (1967), Little Mother (1973), Score (1972) and The Image (1975). Radley himself will be present at the June 2 and 3 screenings, so if you’re in LA, do yourself a favor and check it out- just don’t rub one out in the theater. 42nd street this ain’t.
Second, Cult Epics DVD is releasing a new version of Metzger’s psychedelic sexploitation masterpiece Camille 2000(1969) on DVD and Blu-ray June 14. This swinging piece of Pop Art softcore was shot in Italy and has a heady haute couture look and a literary pedigree to accompany the many scenes of nude nookie. Here’s the synopsis from Cult Epics:
A child of the sixties sexual revolution, beautiful, sensuous Marguerite (Daniele Gaubert) is addicted to sex and money. She is kept by a wealthy man, has a string of young lovers and hosts wild orgies in her luxurious villa. When she falls in love with the handsome bachelor Armand (Nino Castelnuova), he insists on absolute fidelity. Known by her reputation, Armand's controlling father soon intervenes, triggering a tragic turn of events.
The new cut of Camille 2000 contains 12 never-before-scene minutes selected and added to the film by Metzger himself!
Last, and most exciting of all, is the news that Metzger is coming out of retirement to film a new nude movie! Entitled Solarium, the movie will center on a group of five women who meet at the Wanda Solarium, where they can really let their hair (and tops) down and sexplore their animal skinstincts. "It's an exciting story, and one that drew me back into theatrical storytelling,” Metzger says. We’re steaming up faster than a Swedish sauna just thinking about it!
