"They're using nothing but sex to sell this program!" proclaimed Melissa Anderson of the Parents Television Council.

She was fuming on CNN in response to a new round of ads promoting the steamy teen TV sensation Gossip Girl.

One of the ads, in fact, uses a quote from the PTC itself“Mind-blowingly inappropriate!”emblazoned above two of its stars, who play high-school students, basking in what looks very much to be post-coital afterglow.

“Rather than reinforcing positive values that parents are trying to instill in their children,” Anderson pressed on, “this program is very often undermining those positive values.”

The PTC and other hand-wringers of the world are stating the obvious . . . the obviously awesome!

But did you know that back in 2000, watchdog groups got in a tizzy over moneyed NYC teens going wild on a boob-tube adaptation of Cruel Intentionswhich featured a bisexual Amy Adamsand they actually pressured the Fox network before the show even aired?

The small-screen Cruel Intentions spin-off was titled Manchester Prep.

Annie Sorell in Cruel Intentions 2 The summer before it was set to premiere, Entertainment Tonight aired a clip of series star Amy Adams (in the Sarah Michelle Gellar movie role) teaching Keri Lynn Pratt (playing the Selma Blair part) how to mount and make the most out of a riding saddle.

The wildly undulating, bucking hot scene’s self-stimulating climax ignited such a holy uproar that even the normally brazen Fox network ditched the show from its fall schedule.

The good news, however, is that the series’ highlights were cobbled together into the direct-to-DVD classic Cruel Intentions 2.

Better still, they were spiced by Amy Adams engaging in a girl-girl makeout and a shower sequence starring real-life identical sisters Alicia Lorn and Annie Sorrel.

Bring a little more of what you'll see in the video below to Gossip Girl, and a lot more than just tongues will be wagging. Forever.
