Never on Sunday (1960)

A lively and cheerful prostitute named Illia goes through her normal daily routine, which involves swimming at the pier to give the dockworkers a show that stops them in their tracks. On Sundays, Illia hosts get-togethers at her place. One week a philosopher named Homer shows up and equates Illia’s lifestyle with the crumbling of civilization. Homer then begins a project where he studies Illia and hopes to save her. He gives Illia books and other cultural gifts to improve her intellect. But what she doesn’t know is that a local pimp is pulling Homer’s strings, and funding Illia’s extrication from the group of prostitutes. The pimp feels that she is too independent and free, and doesn’t want her to set an example for the other prostitutes.

Melina Mercouri plays Illia in the old Greek film, Never on Sunday (1960). Throughout the film she’s shown in a number of contexts, rocking a black bra and bursting with cleavage. There’s also a smidgen of sideboob when about to enter the shower. This Grecian earns her living!
