Yes, during the era of big hair everybody wanted to hop into bed with Karen Leigh Hopkins. But who could have known back then that Sandusky Ohio's finest was no "dumb blonde", but a future Daytime Emmy nominee and highly successful screenwriter. Doing right on the screen, Karen played blonde bimbos and jiggly jugged aerobics instructors on shows like Hart to Hart and in movies like In Love with an Older Woman (1982) and Going Berserk (1983). While she is likely best known as Richard Dawson's assistant Brenda, in Arnie's killer gameshow satire The Running Man (1987), the sexiest work she ever did was in Talking Walls (1987), an erotic drama about a student filming sexual encounters for his college thesis. With a tight pink top that Karen's pokies are poking out of, she tells the camera all about her studying to become a sex therapist in front of a wall of dildos. Karen kept acting in stuff like Mafia! (1998), and lastly in 2007's Mandy Moore comedy Because I Said So (2007), which she also wrote, but her acting career has paled in comparison to her writing one. She wrote 1990's Welcome Home, Roxy Carmichael and the Julia Roberts & Susan Sarandon vehicle Stepmom (1998) just to name a couple. Karen both wrote and directed the Katie Holmes flick Miss Meadows (2014), and was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for her work on Showtime's What Girls Learn (2001).
