Haymaker (2021)

Professional visual effects artist Nick Sasso pooled all his resources and experience to create his passion project Haymaker (2021). Sasso writes, directs, and stars as Nicky "Mitts" Malloy, a Muy Thai fighter who retired bascially before he ended up getting killed in the ring. After a string of losses, he cashed in his chips and became a bouncer at a bar in New York City. He makes a pretty good living and gets recognized a lot, but he's not making anywhere near the money he was making as a fighter. One night he rescues a woman named Nomi (Nomi Ruiz) from being attacked. Mitts finds out that Nomi is a transgender pop star and, after coming to an arrangement, he takes a job as her bodyguard. The film then becomes a lot like The Bodyguard (1992), with romance blooming in the bright spotlight of pop superstardom, though the man knows he could never stand the spotlight of being with the famous female pop sensation. During this period of the film, we get lots of sexy scenes of Nomi Ruiz showing off in bikinis and her underwear! However, the film's third act then veers over into The Wrestler (2008) territory, with Mitts determining that the only way to win respect for himself again is to return to the ring and make enough money to make himself worthy of Nomi. Come on, Mitts. You should have seen enough of these movies by now to know that going your own way doesn't work out in the end. They wanna run to you, guy! Get with the program here Mitts!
