Carga (2018)

Alright, I'll give you fair warning right now, you're not going to like what the Portuguese film Carga (2018) is about. You've got time to click away or go grab a soda while we explain it, but you're probably going to want to leave the room. As you might have gathered by that overblown introduction, Carga is about human trafficking, currently number four on the list of least sexy things for your movie to be about. There's a lot of bleakness in this film, but some hope as a team of people mobilize to stop the complicated and tangled web of human trafficking running across the country. A group of traffickers come upon Viktoriya (Michalina Olszańska) who seems like she's just going to be another run of the mill victim of their scheme. Upon getting her into their custody, however, these traffickers soon discover that this is no ordinary shrinking violet in their midst. Viktoriya is not only going to fight back, she's not even what these guys were expecting and she's certainly not like anyone they've faced before. The rules of the game are changed thanks to Viktoriya. Now, I know this review has been full of a lot of unpleasant things, but there is a bit of good news here at the end. There's a brief topless scene from the star Michalina Olszańska, whose right breast can be seen in bed when she's taken by the traffickers. Maybe stick to the stills on this one, you actually want to enjoy this nudity, right?
