With capitalism, all miracles are possible, especially in the early free-market society of Poland at the dawn of the 1990s, where is enacted the miraculous Career of Nikos Dyzma (2002). Through a series of unlikely but inevitable and comic events, bumbling loser Nikos becomes Prime Minister of the newly minted democratic republic of his homeland. Surely this shambling amateur administrator cannot create any greater an absurdity of governance than did the entrenched bureaucrats before him! Alas, hapless Nikos is besieged by charlatans and opportunists of every stripe and all manner of surprising and illogical delights are unleashed by him.
