Atlantis (2019)

The Ukrainian film Atlantis (2019) shines a spotlight on a subject that's been all over the news in early 2022. The film is set in 2025 in the aftermath of a colossal war between Russia and Ukraine, though it's never explicitly stated who won the war or where the film is even set, because the most important point the film is attempting to convey is that there is complete desolation in the aftermath of the conflict. A soldier named Sergyi (Andriy Rymaruk) is dealing with the lingering effects of PTSD from the war, particularly after it claimed the lives of nearly everyone he cares about in the world. During one of his frequent trips into the war zone where he was once stationed, he meets Katya (Liudmyla Bileka), a volunteer working with an organization attempting to identify the bodies of dead soldiers in the area. In the midst of death, destruction, and despair, these two lost souls tentatively begin a relationship, though they are both haunted by their past demons and the many problems that continue to linger in their lives. While the film is every bit as bleak and depressing as it sounds, there is one scene that cuts through the depression and gets to the heart of passion! An hour and thirty five minutes in, Liudmyla Bileka makes her nude debut, baring her boobs and bush as she and Rymaruk have sex in a dimly lit hallway in a nearly four minute long single, unbroken take! We'd never heard of Liudmyla before this film, but definitely Bileka what we see!
