The wildly contested and anticipated Marilyn Monroe biopic is nearly here. I feel like I've been reading about it for about three years now. So what's the hold-up? Apparently, the movie is just too damned hot. Ana de Armas is about to play Marilyn and it sounds like she is going to really do her justice.
Andrew Dominick, the movie's director, took to the media the other day to explain that his film Blonde - based on the book written by Joyce Carol Oates - has been delayed again due to its NC-17 rating. The movie which is slated to be released on Netflix has been essentially feuding over its gratuitous sex scenes for months now. The director is basically fed up with that controversy. He said that if the audience doesn't like it, then "too bad" and added that the movie "isn't running for public office".
Originally, there were rumors that the film was being held up due to Ana's accent, but the director denies that. She did have to work with a dialect coach for nine months to sound like Marilyn. I'm very excited to see that. But what about looks? The Cuban actress might not be the most obvious choice for Marilyn, but put her in a platinum blonde wig and you can definitely see a resemblance. Not only that, but Ana oozes sex appeal which is the most important trait needed to play Marilyn Monroe.
I'm very excited about this movie and I really hope that it does not continue to be delayed. I also hope that we are not let down by the sex scenes. The media has been making it sound like this will basically be a porno, so here's hoping! Besides, if someone wants a tamer Marilyn, then they should just watch one of her movies.
