Thuy Trang was a certifiable badass. Born in Saigon, Vietnam, she arrived in the United States, with a short detour to Hong Kong, in 1980 at the age of seven. Encouraged to study Shaolin kung fu by her father, the training paid off when she was cast as Trini Kwan, the Yellow Ranger in the television series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers from 1993-1994, appearing in a total of 81 episodes. She and her fellow team of colorful teenage rangers (Thuy was actually 20 years old) helped save Angel Grove from the evil witch, Repulsa. The brunette cutie, standing at five feet, six inches, also voiced her character in the accompanying video game for the show in 1994, and made the video Karate Masters: Beginning Martial Arts for Kids (1994) with fellow rangers to help train a new generation. After a brief appearance as a manicurist in the comedy spoof movie Spy Hard (1996), featuring Leslie Neilsen, she once again used her martial arts skills to win the part of Kali in the big-screen film The Crow: City of Angels (1996), the sequel to the popular 1994 film. Thuy’s character is one of the murderers in the film, decked out in a leather corset, ninja stars, a fighting pole, a knife, and sky-high platform boots. Despite eventually being thrown out of a window to her demise, she manages to kick a whole lot of ass before she goes. In fact, she kicks so much ass that rumor has it she convinced the director to add a scene where she fights the lead, something that wasn't in the original script. Mr. Skin mourns the loss of Thuy, who died in a car crash in 2001.
