The Golden Globe nominees have been announced, but there are a lot of surprises. Those surprises include some major snubs. Some of these might shock you! Check out these 2024 Golden Globe snubs.
America Ferrera
The Barbie movie received an expected onslaught of nominations, but a pivotal actress in the film whose monologue was the talk of the summer was totally snubbed. That is the one and only America Ferrera. How could the foreign press ignore the woman who gave THE monologue that pretty much made the movie? Isn't America Kenough?!
Priscilla
The actual film Priscilla and the director Sofia Coppola were both ignored. That is really surprising when you consider that Sofia Coppola is one of the most celebrated directors in modern cinema. Was her Elvis film - centering on Priscilla, of course - too close in memory to Baz Luhrman's Elvis film? Is everyone Elvised out? That could be true because actress Cailee Spaenywas nominated. No one else was!
At least Cailee is getting acclaim. More people need to know her because we know her pretty well...due to her nudity! She was the topless dead body in Mare of Easttown, so she is due for a better nude scene - preferably a living one.
Taraji P. Henson in The Color Purple
Despite not yet being released, The Color Purple earned several nominations. Actresses Danielle Brooks and Fantasia Barino were nominated, but Taraji was ignored. That is a true headscratcher considering her role is also one of the most vital and most fun in the entire film. She is bound to be a fan favorite! How could they forget about her?!
Not only was Taraji snubbed, but the entire musical was snubbed in the Best Musical or Comedy category. Yes, this is a remake and it is also a musical. Will there be nudity in this version? I doubt it because the new film is rated PG-13.
Aunjanue Ellis
I am surprised that Ava Duvernay's Origin was not nominated more. Actress Aunjanue Ellis was particularly snubbed which is wild. She is fantastic in the film, just like she was fantastic and skintastic in the series Lovecraft Country when she time-traveled to play a dancer for Josephine Baker to perfection.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus
The Seinfeld and Veep starlet delivered a phenomenal performance in the super underrated film You Hurt My Feelings. This comedy about insecurity is a must -see and Julia is wonderful in it. Sadly, the film did not appear to be seen by much of the public despite its fantastic reviews. That means our favorite curly-haired comedy queen doesn't get the nomination.
