Our Staff Picks column takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version of Staff Picks has a decidedly skintillating angle, as we suss out which films from a particular subgenre are the best to find great nudity. This week let's cover an important topic for February's Black History Month: Black leading ladies!
Black actresses have had to do a lot to stand out in Hollywood. Hollywood has not traditionally been progressive when it comes to casting, but these stars shine so bright that Hollywood could not ignore them. Neither could we! These lovely leading ladies have all gone nude, so check them out in their sexiest lead roles that also delivered the goods.
Sanaa Lathan
One of the sexiest Black women to take the lead in movies is certainly Sanaa Lathan. Ever since her skintastic debut in Love Basketball, Sanaa has been showing her fit figure for decades. Unlike other young actresses, Sanaa did not leave her nudity to her early career. She went nude again almost twenty years later when she took a nude shower in 2018's Nappily Ever After. She's still got it!
Halle Berry
Is anyone a hotter leading lady than Halle Berry? I mean that point-blank period! Halle is a classic beauty and she made history being the first Black woman to win the Oscar for Best Actress. She's still the only one, so Hollywood has to watch more movies to crown the future of Black leading ladies! In the meantime, we can admire Halle's Oscar-winning and NUDE performance in Monster's Ball.
Jennifer Beals
Jennifer Beals was groundbreaking for being a Black leading lady in an 80s teen flick that became super iconic. The biracial beauty starred in 1983's dance movie Flashdance.
She followed up that role with a full frontal scene in the 1985 gothic romance The Bride which was an 80s look at Mary Shelley's Frankenstein with Sting playing the titular doctor. The lucky doctor got a medicinal view of Beals' boobs.
Rosario Dawson
The Afro-Latina Rosario Dawson began her career in 1995 when she starred alongside other New York rising actors in Larry Clark's controversial film Kids. She was allegedly discovered by screenwriter Harmony Korine literally sitting on her NYC stoop! The rest is history. She broke out as a star throughout the 90s and 2000s and even delivered a Hall of Fame nude scene in the 2013 film Trance.
Kerry Washington
Kerry Washington is now an award-winning and nominated actress who lends her talents to prestigious film roles, but the gorgeous and sophisticated sexpot went nude in an early lead role in 2004's She Hate Me. We do not hate her after seeing those jugs jiggle in this sex scene. You can see it here and identify how her early pair had potential:
