Beautiful blonde bombshell Suzanne Somers sadly passed away over the weekend right before her 77th birthday. The 76-year-old passed from a long battle with breast cancer and she left behind a memorable career with a lot to celebrate. She was known as The Queen of the Jiggle due to her jiggling jugs on TV during the 1970s, but she was so much more than that. Let's celebrate her life and her jiggle.
Suzanne did not have the easiest early life. She was born and raised in California to an alcoholic father. She was married young and had a son, but she had an affair two years into the marriage and her husband left her. That meant that Suzanne was a single mom and she was barely over twenty. She started modeling in San Francisco during the swingin' 60s in order to pay her bills. She also landed a prize model gig on the game show The Anniversary Game hosted by the man who would become her husband until her death.
She made her feature film debut in 1968 when she had a role in the film Bullitt. From there she had small, mostly unnamed roles in films of increasing popularity such as American Graffiti. She originally went nude in Magnum Force in 1973 in which she went topless in a swimming pool and showed her cannons.
She may be most famous for starring in the sitcom Three's Company playing blonde bimbo Chrissy Snow. She was the third choice for the role and she immediately knocked it out of the park. The show became a huge hit and Suzanne became a fan favorite character. When she was finished with Three's Company, she moved to Las Vegas where she became a live entertainer and also performed for troops. She starred in a few more sitcoms in the late 80s that were mostly short-lived.
She later played Carol Lambert in the blended family sitcom Step By Step. Yet again a generation of young men began crushing on Suzanne when she starred as the MILF stepmom. She was back on TV and back to being a celebrated comedic actress. Around this time in the 90s, she also became a spokesperson for the Thighmaster. That really isn't a surprise considering her ultra-fit figure! In 2014, she was inducted into the Infomercial Hall of Fame for those efforts - yes, that exists and Suzanne Somers' muscular thighs definitely deserve to be honored there.
In Suzanne's later life, she attempted a one-woman show based on her memoir. She also hosted some game shows and even competed in Dancing with the Stars. Suzanne was diagnosed with cancer in 2001 and spent the next two decades fighting it and raising awareness for alternative treatments.
Suzanne passed away surrounded by her immediate family including her husband and son. They had gathered for her October 16th birthday but celebrated her amazing life in another way. Rest in peace, Suzanne. Thank you for a lovely and skintastic career!
