Welcome to our Nudity Was Necessary series where we take a look at nude scenes that were crucial for the plot of the film or character development. Today's film is the 1985 classic Just One of the Guys directed by Lisa Gottlieb. This loose adaptation of William Shakespeare's 12th Night had one unforgettable nude scene that would have made The Bard horny.
Joyce Hyser starred in this 1980s classic about a high school girl named Terri Griffith who has big dreams of someday becoming a journalist. She is pretty, well-liked, has a boyfriend in college, and has her heart set on an internship at the local paper. She writes an essay but her teacher dismisses hers in favor of one written by her male classmate, so she decides to improve upon it by going undercover as a guy and learning all about the inner workings of high school boys. She has to get this internship...even if it means pretending to be a boy!
She goes "undercover" at a different school to write and resubmit her article as her male alter-ego. However, After making a transformation, she is ready to be Just One of The Guys. She gets a haircut, gets masculine clothes, works on her voice, and even practices walking like a guy. She gets in good with the guys and they really do believe that she is one of them. She has a few almost misses in the locker room, but she otherwise fools them good. She fits right in!
It's crazy because she becomes a guy, but her "before" looked like this and this is all woman:
She looks too much like a guy that girls even fall for her! She has to ward off one obsessive girl's crush in order for her to focus. Imagine if this had inspired her to go both ways: what a skintastic flick this would have been! That being said, there is skin in the movie and it is totally necessary.
Trouble befalls her plans when she falls for her new friend, Rick. Since the crux of the film is the fact that she is fitting in to be a guy and she is frustrated that her friend belies that she is a guy, she has to do something drastic. She decides to do it, of all places, at prom. She opens up her tuxedo shirt and BAM: boobs!
Her breasts are the big reveal: she isn't a guy after all and she can prove it. She's a woman - and a hot one at that - and she is standing in front of the guy she likes to prove it and to seduce him. When she pops out those juicy jugs, her friend can barely believe his eyes. Neither can we! Now he knows the truth!
...But he is confused and he rejects her in front of everyone. He even tells everyone "Terri has tits" and winds up humiliating her. This gives her a lot of ammo to write her article which gets printed in the newspaper.
Of course, the pair get together after Rick reads the article and realizes his true feelings for Terri, whether she looks like a guy or a girl. Aw, a happy ending! The power of tits!
