In the modern television era, it's becoming more and more commonplace for shows that fail on one network to get a second life elsewhere. In the case of the upcoming series On Becoming a God in Central Florida starring Kirsten Dunst, however, the series moved to Showtime after being developed by AMC and later picked up by YouTube Premium.

You wouldn't know that this show had such a rocky road to the boob tube by looking at this trailer, though, as this seems like it's going to be a pretty great show. Dunst stars as a woman whose family was financially ruined by their participation in a pyramid scheme. She hatches a plan to get even with the company by rising through their ranks and destroying them from the inside.

There's no guarantee of nudity here, though the move to Showtime bodes well for any potential skin. It's nice that Dunst has gotten less skin-gy over the last few years with her nude appearances in All Good Things and Melancholia, so hopefully that trends continues here. Check out the plot synopsis below, via Deadline, and tune in when On Becoming a God in Central Florida premieres on Showtime August 25.

Set in a small Orlando-adjacent town in 1992,On Becoming A God in Central Floridafollows Krystal Stubbs (Kirsten Dunst), a minimum-wage water park employee who lies, schemes and cons her way up the ranks of Founders American Merchandise (FAM) — the cultish, flag-waving, multibillion-dollar pyramid scheme that drove her to ruin in the first place, run by the powerful Obie Garbeau II (Ted Levine). Determined to make a better life for herself, Krystal dives deep into FAM and develops a tangled relationship with FAM’s most loyal and fanatical follower Cody (Théodore Pellerin), until her business begins to affect those closest to her, including Ernie (Mel Rodriguez), her affable water park boss, and his FAM-skeptic wife Bets (Beth Ditto).
