Today's film for Hippie Hotties is one of those films where a timid fuddy-duddy dude has his world rocked by hippies. Let's check out the 1969 British flick What's Good for the Goose.

Hippie Hotties: What’s Good for the Goose

Norman Wisdom plays a banker (his final role) who is feeling bored and dissatisfied with his life. He eventually shakes things up in the most 60s way possible: sleeping with hippies. Norman Wisdom was known for making risque comedies, so his final role was no different. When his character goes to a banking conference in the coastal town of Southport, he picks up two hitch-hikers who happen to be hippie hotties.

These hot hippie babes help him unwind with their free love philosophies. He has a blast with the two groovy girls, but he falls for one of them in particular. One of those sexy babes is played by Sally Geeson who even ditches her clothes to run naked into the sea. Can you guess who he falls for? It's definitely her with those adorable tan lines on her ass!

Actress Sally Geeson later said that the most embarrassing moment of her career was the nude beach scene from this film. There are also two separate versions of a bedroom nude scene. In the German release, she is topless and in the British version, she is conservatively dressed in her bra. Geeson later starred in a few of the Carry On films and she slipped us her breasts in Cry of the Banshee in 1970.

Hippie Hotties: What’s Good for the Goose

I know that the plot of this movie feels like the plot of a lot of other Hippie Hotties films that we have covered. The uptight, older man gets his world rocked by a younger hippie chick and he learns to relax and enjoy life. Same old, same old. But this film is of special interest to me because it was directed by Menahem Golan.

I really have to write a full blog post on the Golans very soon (I promise I will), but if you've read some of my other work recently then you know that I am fascinated by Menahem Golan's career. The director and producer would later become one of the kings of the late 20th century B-movies, but he began his career directing films like this.

Menahem Golan was an Israeli filmmaker whose credits include Kumite, Bloodsport, Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo,The Apple, and producing the 1981 version of Lady Chatterley's Lover. Yeah, he did all of that! We will get into it more at another date, but this is all to say that you can see Menahem had a penchant for sexy women and wild plots in his films. You can see hints of that in What's Good for the Goose!

As I said, I'll do a proper post on Menahem's movies soon, but I would be remiss if I did not at least mention what was to come for the Israeli director. This film was not his first, but it was definitely one of his earliest works. He refined his approach to nudity by the time he got to the 1980s!

The movie is decidedly hippie from the character who self-identify as such to the psychedelic tunes played by the band The Pretty Things in a groovy hippie club that is vibrantly painted in acid-laced colors. There certainly are pretty things in this movie and that includes Sally Geeson and her sexy co-stars Sarah Atkinson and Sally Bazely. Only Geeson showed Skin in her later movies, so we are happy she made her debut here!

Is this film a hit? Not necessarily, but it's a fun hippie comedy that delivers when it comes to innuendos and a nude scene from Ms. Geeson. You might want to give What's Good for the Goose a gander!
