Guillermo Del Toro's two cracks at Hellboy were well-received by critics and fans, but neither film ever really caught fire with a wider audience. They also both came out prior to the superhero boom that kicked off in earnest with the Marvel Cinematic Universe and The Dark Knight, making them oddities of the genre rather than products of it.

That may all change next month when the rebooted Hellboy hits theaters in a hard-R-rated version that is certain to please fans who felt Del Toro's original films were a little too family friendly. Stranger Things star David Harbour steps into the title role with a much more toned down air to him than Ron Perlman's gregarious take on the character. Many of the supporting characters from Del Toro's version have been jettisoned as well with Selma Blair's Liz Sherman and Doug Jones' Abe Sapien nowhere to be found.

This time around, Hellboy gets teamed with Ian McShane's Professor Broom, Daniel Dae Kim's Ben Daimio, Thomas Haden Church's Lobster Johnson, and Sasha Lane's Alice Monaghan. You may remember Sasha from 2016's American Honey...

We'll find out for sure when Hellboy opens on April 12.
