When you think of barely-legal Disney Channel celebs Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez, the first things you think of are sniffing glue, killing cats, and eating spaghetti in a filthy bathtub, right?

Yeah, us either. That's why we were surprised (to put it mildly) that Spring Breakers, starring Vanessa, Selena, and baby-faced babes Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine, is being directed by indie bad-boy Harmony Korine. Harmony put all of the above and more (like Chloe Sevigny's boobs, left) into his provocative directorial debut Gummo (1998).

And Korine hasn't mellowed with age- Julien Donkey-Boy (1999) is a meditation on schizophrenia with a disturbing subplot, Mister Lonely (2007) stars a bizarre family of celebrity impersonators, and Trash Humpers (2009) is exactly it sounds like, a shot-on-VHS transmission from another galaxy where deviants in old-man masks hump garbage bags.

So he's a strange choice, to say the least, for a big-budget studio pic like Spring Breakers, currently filming in Florida and accompanied by a tidal wave of news coverage that usually reads something like "OMG SELENA GOMEZ SPOTTED DRINKING WHAT WILL JUSTIN BIEBER THINK?!?"

So has Harmony sold out, or are we about to see a side (hopefully the front, but the side would do too) of these tween idols that we could never have imagined? Either way, color us SKINtrigued.
