An NC-17 rating handed out by Mr. Skin’s arch-nemesis, the notoriously skingy MPAA, is usually considered the kiss of death for a film thanks to restrictions on advertising and distribution. Gone are the halcyon days of ‘60s nudist flicks, PG-13 ratings are ruining skinema.
Recently a group of fearless filmmakers has been working on a project to change that- and much more- with a grassroots campaign to make female toplessness legal across the country. Free the Nipple aims to raise awareness of gender inequalities in the breast way possible with support from High School Musical’s Monique Coleman, The Twilight Saga’s Casey LaBow, LOL’s Lina Esco, and more.
