Regardless of how you feel about Quentin Tarantino's upcoming Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the director has made it clear that the Manson family murders are only one part of his portrait of Tinseltown in that dark and crazy summer of 1969. It doesn't seem like the filmmakers behind the upcoming thriller The Haunting of Sharon Tate have madea similarnon-exploitational pledge.

Former Disney star Hilary Duff steps into the shoes of late actressSharon Tate, who was murdered along with four of her friends on an early August night in 1969. I'm not saying that people can't surprise us and turn in good performances when they've never done that in the past, but I can't even begin to understand why the filmmakers would cast the 31 year old to play a woman who didn't live to see 27.

One thing I will give Hil, however, is that she's got a fantastic body and will no doubt be quite sexy in all of the period costumes. I sincerely hope that this doesn't turn out to be cheap exploitative trash, but I'm not encouraged by the footage from this trailer.

I'm also not encouraged by writer/directorDaniel Farrands' track record. He gave us Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, arguably the worst of the original six films, and also did that umpteenthAmityville remake from last year with Bella Thorne you likely never heard about. He's also got The Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson with Mena Suvari in the title role on deck for later this year. So, you know, adjust your expectations accordingly.
