I have some interesting news: Anna Kendrick is about to make her debut as a director. Not only that, but she will also star in the movie. She is playing double duty with her upcoming film Woman of the Hour which is getting some buzz and is also some mature content for the lovely lady. The film is a true crime thriller based on a true story and set in the 1970s, so it will be visually something to look at - which is how I describe Anna Kendrick!
Woman of the Hour is the title of the buzzed-about new movie that is about to show off Anna Kendrick's many talents. Woman of the Hour is going to be based on the true story of Rodney Alcala, a monstrous serial killer who somehow competed on The Dating Game. Not only did he compete as an eligible bachelor on The Dating Game...but he won. That is why he is often called The Dating Game Killer. Anna Kendrick is set to play the woman trying to find love in The Dating Game, Cheryl Bradshaw.
Daniel Zovatto will play Rodney Alcala who gets to win a date with Kendrick's Cheryl Bradshaw. The true story behind this fascinating true crime movie is that Cheryl was instantly creeped out by Rodney. In fact, the second she met him backstage after he won the show, she told producers that she wouldn't go through with the date with Rodney. He was too "creepy". Who knows what it was that she immediately sensed, but it is highly likely that following that instinct saved Cheryl from a potentially dangerous situation!
In fact, by the time Rodney was on the show he had already done time. I guess the producers of The Dating Game didn't do much background checking on these "eligible" bachelors. He was even on the FBI's Most Wanted List. Cheryl didn't know anything about Rodney beyond the innuendo-filled questions that he answered on the show, but she caught a bad vibe and never went through with the date.
We will see how all of this unfolds into a film and how Anna does in front of and behind the camera. The Dating Game story itself is rather short, so I am interested to see how this spans an entire film as I imagine, based on the title, that the focus will be on Cheryl Bradshaw's story. I know one thing is for certain: Anna is going to be a knockout, as per usual.
The movie premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, but we did not hear any word on Anna's nudity. Anna has yet to actually go nude in her career thus far, so I don't actually think that she would direct herself in her own nude scene. The film was very well received at the festival and Netflix immediately acquired it for $11 million. That means that we will all be able to view it in no time!
She hasn't gone nude yet and she may still not, but I will always hold out hope!
