Netflix recently gifted us with a new film version of Lady Chatterley’s Lover, the D.H. Lawrence novel that’s been causing a scandal since it was first published due to its sexually explicit content and racy language. The story of the smoldering affair between the wife of a wealthy, cold, wounded war veteran and a poor, handsome gamekeeper caused a stir with its graphic depiction of female sexual pleasure and the book was formally banned until about 1960.
As one could imagine, this sensuous tale has been the basis for more than a few skin-filled film versions, so we thought we’d put Netflix’s offering next to these past adaptations.
Lady Chatterley’s Lover (2022)
Is this the steamiest, most skin-tillating depiction of Lady Chatterley? Star Emma Corrin certainly leaves nothing to the imagination in a number of scenes, not only giving us lots of looks of all three B’s during the infamous mirror and rain scenes, but it also may have the most moments of them actually doing the deed.

Lady Chatterley’s Lover (1981)
This European film version has Sylvia Kristel dropping her nightgown for some full frontal in the mirror scene and she’s completely nude in the rain as well, although this Oliver covers her up instead of joining her. Their sex is very chatterley, er chatty. Less talking more boinking please!

Lady Chatterley (1992)
The gorgeous Joely Richardson not only frolics in the rain with Sean Bean but actually has an added full frontal scene where she tries to seduce her paralyzed husband, which he does not appreciate. If we were dead, we’d still want to see Joely’s jugs!

Lady Chatterley (2006)
In this Belgian/French version, while there is only one instance of passionate nude lovemaking, we do get the mirror and the rain, with the bonus of an extreme closeup of Marina Hands' muff.

Lady Chatterley’s Lover (2015)
The one version with no nudity save for some sexy shoulder skin from stars Holliday Grainger and Richard Madden. It was supposedly at Madden’s insistence that they didn’t go nude. We’re sure thankful that no one in the new version shared this sentiment!

We felt we had to include this Italian softcore version and it’s beautiful Brazilian star Malù. It’s obvious from the pics that though it plays a bit with the plot, it’s faithful to the source material where nudity is concerned.
