It’s usually America that steals the talent from our Great White Northern neighbor, but for the West-Hollywood born, Iowa-raised Angela Dohrmann, the migration went in the opposite direction. Angela landed a gig as a VJ for MuchMusic, the Canadian version of MTV, in the early ‘90s, and that led to a regular gig as Angela on the CBC sitcom Material World from 1991-1993. But you can’t keep a good American girl in Canada for long, and she returned to her homeland to conquer US television, which she did, appearing in over 50 episodes and over a dozen different TV series, as well as three different TV movies. But before we get into all that, Mr. Skin wants to share her naked moment. It was in a movie called Matinee (1989), and Angela appeared in a film within the film, getting her groove on while topless. Reportedly, the movie was originally shown on a Canadian cable channel, and Angela’s role, even though she bared her breasts, was considered so inconsequential, she didn’t even get an uncredited credit. Mr. Skin knows, though. Back in the USA, one of Angela’s most memorable roles was playing Donna Chang on the 1994 episode of Seinfeld titled “The Chinese Woman.” She had pop-up appearances in Ellen, The Client, Party of Five, and Hudson Street, and was the recurring character of Suzie in The Drew Carey Show from 1995-1997. She also played Ricky on Star Trek: Voyager in 1995 and 1996, for all you sci-fi fans out there keeping track. Additionally, you may recognize her as Stacy Bridges on the primetime program Nash Bridges from 1996-1998. Sorry, Canada—we’re keeping her.
