Too Close (2021)

There are countless headlines all over the world about people committing seemingly random acts of violence, completely unprovoked, and they leave us scratching our heads as to the WHY!  When a young mother in England, Connie Mortensen (Denise Gough), decides one day to load up her kids in her SUV and drive all of them off a bridge into the river, everyone is asking "why did she do this?"  After the crash, Connie is being held in a mental hospital to see if she is mentally competent enough to actually stand trial for the attempted killing of her children.  It's up to forensic psychiatrist, Dr. Emma Robinson (Emily Watson) to find out what drove this seemingly normal and loving mother to drive off that bridge on that fateful night.  When the Doc begins to dig into Connie's life and mental health, she soon uncovers a history of trauma, mood stabilizing medications, family instability, infidelity in the household, and a woman with such a fragile state of mind that maybe she didn't have a choice in her heinous decisions.  Along the way, we also find out a bit more about the tragic life of good Dr. Robinson too!  Denise Gough spends the majority of this mini-series bruised and battered from the crash and showing pokies in her mental hospital garb.  We also get some sexy good times with Emily Watson having a fully-clothed F-sesh on the kitchen island with her hubby, but it's Thalissa Teixeira who is the lone skin shower on this mini-series, when she shows her tantalizing toplessness in a bathtub scene in episode 2!
