The series Sex/Life is exploding right now on Netflix. That's because it's all about sex and sex obviously sells. But did you know that this series is actually based on a true story?! How hot is that?
The plot of Sex/Life goes like this: Sarah Shahi plays a married MILF named Billie who starts to yearn for her past where she was a sexually adventurous party girl. She starts to head down memory lane - taking us through mamory lane in the process - and begins to write in a journal recounting all of her steamiest romances.
We see everything from spontaneous flings, car quickies, skinny dipping, and more - all of which are allegedly inspired by REAL events.
It's true! The sexy series that has everyone talking is based on BB Easton's novel 44 Chapters About 4 Men. The novel was released in 2016 and it is written out in the form of a diary. Wait, but we said this is based on a true story? Yes, so apparently even that novel is based on real events.
The novel is sort of a memoir disguised with fictional elements to protect the not-so-innocent as a school psychologist and mother of two starts keeping a journal about her sexual fantasies
The author BB Easton has said that journaling her sexual desires was a cathartic way to get her through a mid-life crisis. It was a way for her to "bridge between my current life and the girl I used to be. I was living my current life but I was writing about all of these fun experiences and it helped me feel like I was the same person."
Well, that's exactly what Sarah Shahi's character is doing...but it doesn't work out as happily for her in the series. That's, of course, because they want to give us a season 2. We can't have a season 2 if there's a happily ever after and I really want a season 2 of this steamy show.
