The First Team (2020)

When it comes to sports, they are simply ripe for parody as proven from such sports classics as Major League (1989), Bull Durham (1988), or either of The Longest Yards (1974, 2005).  In the same vein as those classics, we get one from across the pond on BBC Two and it focuses on a fictional Premier League football team and the shenanigans that follow three of their top players.  The First Team centers on newly arriving American signing, Mattie Sullivan (Jake Short), to the British squad owned by the ever hilarious Will Arnett, who is more obsessed with getting a jumbo-tron the bigger than the field itself than actually fielding a good team!  Hence the hodge-podge crew of cast-offs, idiots, bullies, and a pushover coach who seemingly can't string together a practice without incident.  While he immediately gets hazed by the jerk captain of the team and lone star, Petey Brooks (Theo Barklem-Biggs), who seemingly walks around naked the entire series, he ends up countering that by making fast friends of the car and lady loving Benji (Shaquille Ali-Yebuah) and the fame and fortune fearful Jack (Jack McMullen).  Needless to say, as most sports comedies go, shenanigans ensue, pranks are played, and the new American rookie in the UK gets a rough welcome.  As this one is full of male nudity, there isn't any naked ladies to speak of as of yet, but we do get to see the lovely Tahirah Sharif in a bikini in Benji's hot tub in the first series on this show.  Hopefully we get some more scantily clad ladies in series 2 to follow up the impressive streak of man butts that debuted in this the first!
