For today's Throwback Thursday, I want to do a deep dive into the career of Sean Young. You may have wondered where Sean Young is now. Well, we can get into that! Let's take a look at her career and her saucy nude scenes.
Sean came from Louisville, Kentucky, originally. Just because she was from Kentucky did not mean that she did not have connections. On the contrary, her mother is Lee Guthree waho was a screenwriter and producer. Her father was a journalist. Entertainment ran in her blood! She trained as a dancer at Interlochen Arts Academy and then as the School of American Ballet in NYC. Dancing and modeling in New York lead to her first ever film role in which she was practically an immediate success.
She made her debut in the film industry in 1980's Jane Austen in Manhattan. She then starred in Stripes and Blade Runner immediately after which were two major successes that launched her into stardom. She was Chani in David Lynch's Dune, so by 1984 it seemed like this naturally gorgeous young woman was primed for success. So what happened?
In 1987, she starred in the erotic thriller No Way Out where she plays a very pleasant and effervescent femme fatale. She also gives her breasts a way out, too! She is skincredibly charming in this film, essentially keeping up the streak that she was leading lady material.
Sean Young was phenemonal in Love Crimes in 1991. She went full frontal in some very steamy bath scenes. In this erotic thriller filled with BDSM, Sean plays a district attorney who is persecuting a con man...whom she ends up also going to bed with. That really complicates things! The movie explores sex being used as a con. She has five nude scenes with great shots of her cans in all of them.
She kept her 90s nudity going by starring nude in A Kiss Before Dying that same year! However, the early 90s is when she started to run into trouble. An affair of sorts with the married James Woods ended in legal threats which drug her name through the mud. She broke her arm on the set of Batman where she was originally cast as Vicki Vale. She recovered from her injury and was furious to find out that she was not being considered for the next Batman movie.
Sean pretty famously wanted to audition for Tim Burton to play Catwoman in 1992's Batman Returns, but he would not see her. She took matters into her own hands and dressed up in a full Catwoman outfit. She showed that video on The Joan Rivers Show where Joan was actually very encouraging of Sean's attempted audition. The role went to Michelle Pfeiffer and the rest is history.
She depended on a body double in the middle of the 90s, sadly, but she returned to really showing off her real body in 1998's Out of Control. She even went nude as recently as 2008 in Haunted Echoes! Her most recent nude work was nearly 20 years ago with A Killer Within. In that film, she had full frontal goodness!
She does continue to work, but not in nearly as many major projects as she previously did. She did revive her role in Blade Runner 2049 as Rachael and she starred in the series The Alienist. Other than that, she has a few interesting horror films on the docket. It is clear to see that nothing can knock Sean down. Sure, she is weird and filled with controversy, but that's no reason to forget about these skintastic scenes.
