It's Latinx Heritage Month, so this is a great time to celebrate strong Latina actresses. What better way to do that than to highlight movies that had strong Latina leads? Check out these stellar films that star amazing Latinas.
Hustlers
Director Lorene Scafaria really knew what she was doing when she put together this ensemble of all-star women to play high-class strippers who wind up hustling their clients and stealing tons of money. Jennifer Lopez, however, is the star of the show. Jenny from the Block showed off her Bronx booty when she took her spotlight at the stripper pole. She had us hustling to see more!
The film is filled with art and filled with hot actresses in barely-there outfits. J. Lo does not go nude, but Señora Affleck wears a thong that may as well be dental floss as she spreads her legs and has us thinking we might see a lip slip.
Like Water for Chocolate
Mexican movie Like Water for Chocolate is a Latin film classic. It's so popular and sexy that I had to include it in this Latina lead lady list because Lumi Cavazos and Claudette Maillé are SO good in this movie. Claudette even has a body like WHOA and a steamy shower scene that had us gagging. Oh, that and her full frontal scene.
This romantic drama was critically acclaimed as it tells the story of a young woman who vows to stay unmarried so that she can take care of her ill mother. She, of course, falls in love with someone and questions everything! While she is questioning her life, we are taking in her delicious body.
Purple Rain
Apollonia is the romantic lead in Purple Rain where the Mexican American actress introduced herself to all of us. The Sex Shooter had everyone shooting in their pants when she showed off her voluptuous curves in black leather outfits and plunging necklines. She takes all of her clothes off when Prince tells her to bathe in the "waters of Lake Minnetonka". She obeys and brings her juicy melons out!
She is wonderful to watch and the film itself is just plain fun. It can be wonky at parts, but there is no denying that Prince's performances are worth the watch. And Apollonia's apples? My favorite fruit!
Ask the Dust
We always talk about Salma Hayek's spicy role in Friday which is truly a masterpiece performance from the Mexican actress, but I wanted to highlight another one of her films. Let's talk about Ask the Dust!
In this 2006 film directed by Chinatown's Robert Towne, Salma plays a Mexican immigrant who is in the states and wants to marry a man to allow her to stay there. She meets Colin Farrell, a hard-partying author. The two of them start a passionate affair and Salma strips nude and runs into the sea.
Trance
This crime thriller by Danny Boyle directed is filled with twists and turns when a masterpiece work-of-art goes missing after an auction. It was stolen and about to be sold, but the art disappears even from the person who intended to sell it. Rosario Dawson plays a hypnotherapist who could certainly hypnotize us with those hips. And that's not the only thing that the Latina actress can hypnotize us with!
