Scare Master Ari Aster’s latest film Beau is Afraid, which is now on VOD, has many of the writer/director’s crazy calling cards despite it being almost comical at times: decapitation, people on the ceiling, psychological trauma, etc. - but it also has one of the most exquisite yet excruciating needle drops in recent history.

The titular Beau (Joaquin Phoenix) is on a journey to get back home to his mother and after over two brutal hours of violence, guilt, grief, abduction, vomit, paint, and theatrical forest orphans. In the third act, he ends up reuniting with Elaine (Parker Posey), an old crush he met on a cruise as a child.She’s really excited to see him and they promptly end up in bed, but the problem is, as the title suggests, Beau is afraid. Of what, you ask? Just everything. But especially sex, because that’s how his dad bit the big one.

So Elaine tries to relax him and set the mood, and what better way to set the mood than the old school Mariah Carey bop “Always Be My Baby?” There must be something about those opening “do do doops” that really get her hornt up because she starts the song over before riding him to completion… in more ways than one.

It’s Parker’s first nude scene since 2009’s Happy Tears, and she ’s looking as good as ever, breaking out both her T and A for this welcome return. It especially makes sense that the indie queen of both Christopher Guest comedy and heavy arthouse drama would make a nude comeback in a film that mixes both up in such a weird way. The scenario may be cringy, but Parker’s bouncing boobs and behind are still captivating in the best way!
