SKINcoming 123008

Each Tuesday, be sure to check in with Mr. Skin to get the complete skinny right here on the hottest DVD releases. Here is the randy round-up for the week of December 30, 2008.

BAGHEAD (2008)
STUDIO: Sony Classics
NUDE: Greta Gerwig (breasts) (Picture-1)
THE SKINNY: No one could blame you for being turned off by the term “mumblecore”, or the fact that the typical efforts in this burgeoning independent film genre focus shaky camcorders on hipster twenty-somethings in big cities improvising dialogue about the very important problems in their lives. But bear in mind that the zero-budget aesthetics of “mumblecore” lend itself to the oldest trick in the cheapie cinema book: young, fresh, female nakedness, and plenty of it. Case in point(s): the “mumblecore”/pseudo-horror hybrid Baghead, which features Greta Gerwig, the true bust-out star of the movement, losing her top as easily as she did in her previous naked video triumph, Hannah Takes the Stairs (2007). In Baghead, a group of filmmakers settles into a spooky cabin to write a slasher-movie script centered on the masked murderer of the title, but once again it’s Greta’s gazongas that turn out to be absolutely killer.

DONA FLOR AND HER TWO HUSBANDS (1977)
STUDIO: New Yorker
NUDE: Sonia Braga (breasts, buns) (Picture-1)
THE SKINNY: Brazil's worldwide hit comedy Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands casts sumptuous Sonia Braga in the titular role. Flor is the widow of handsome, sexually dynamic, but utterly irresponsible Vadinho (Jos Walker). When she remarries the upright, and uptight, Dr. Teodoro Madureira (Mauro Mendona), Flor finds herself materially and emotionally satisfied, but she misses the fire of her first husband in the bedroom. That's when Vadinho's ghost comes back with more on his mind than merely haunting his former missus. Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands electrically embodies the carnally charged atmosphere of the country from which it comes, and as fans of Brazilian cinema know, you can always count on Sonia to give you a bonia.

TOWELHEAD (2007)
STUDIO: Warner Independent Pictures
NUDES: Summer Bishi (left breast), Lisa Catara (left breast), LoriDawn Messuri (breasts), Irina Voronina (breasts), Nathalie Walker (breasts), uncredited actresses
THE SKINNY: Alan Ball, screenwriter of American Beauty (1999) and creator of the HBO series Six Feet Under, adapts a racially charged coming-of-age novel by Alicia Erian for the screen in Towelhead. Set in 1991, during the first Gulf War, Towelhead chronicles Arab-American teen Jasira (Summer Bishi), who moves in with her ultra-strict Lebanese father in Texas. Amidst bigotry at school and misery at home, Jasira cultivates a sexual obsession with her middle-aged neighbor (Aaron Eckhart). Much goes awry throughout Jasira’s struggles, but many clothes come off the female cast members, making Towelhead a true feel-yourself-good film that will have you toweling off at least one of your heads upon repeated viewings.

WEDDING CRASHERSBLU-RAY (2005)
STUDIO: Warner Home Video
NUDES: Diora Baird (breasts, thong) (Picture-), Ivana Bozilovic (breasts) (Picture-1), Isla Fisher (breasts, butt) (Picture-1), Rachel Sterling (breasts) (Picture-1)
THE SKINNY: It may be a nightmare for those bound in unholy matrimony, but marriage is also a powerful aphrodisiac, at least until the women get their claws in you. That may seem pessimistic, but reality is harsh. It has its rewards, though, as Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson know in the comedy Wedding Crashers. These players have been licking the icing off of so many wedding cakes and naked boobssupplied by Diora Baird, Ivana Bozilovic, and Rachel Sterlingthat before they get sick they fall hard for Rachel McAdams and Isla Fisher, daughters of Washington insider Jane Seymour. Jane provides one of the sexiest seductions of her career without showing any naughty bits. But Isla is less bashful in an SM scene that is bound to please.
