Summer goes out with a bang this year, as August wraps up with a booming boon of DVD releases rich in bare babe exposure. Hold off autumn for a few more weeks with this blazing batch of newd flicks on disc.

THE APARTMENT (1996)

THE SKINNY: Being made in France, The Apartment was originally titled L'appartement. Requiring no interpretation is the universal carnal appeal of leading lust bomb Romane Bohringer. The gamine beauty exudes an allure so powerful that it leads an otherwise upstanding passerby (Vincent Cassel) to abandon his trip to Japan, flee his fianc? and stake out Romane's character in the dwelling of the title. A single gander at any of Romane's multiple nude scenes will make this man's moves seem extremely understandable.
H6: DIARY OF A SERIAL KILLER (2005)

THE SKINNY: Habitual homicide practitioner Antonio Frau (Fernando Acaso) gets sprung from a twenty-five-year jail sentence in the Spanish-made H6: Diary of a Serial Killer and immediately returns to his life-wasting ways. The hotel he's inherited makes for a fine slay-ground, particularly room H6 (hence the obvious). Along the way, we hear Antonio's philosophical musings and we see the naked bits of some of his female victims. Sadists will want to savor every moment; others are advised to fast-forward to Raquel Arenas at the twenty-two-minute mark, as well as the many moments of Mar?Jos?aus?b in the raw.
KICKING SCREAMING (1995)

THE SKINNY: This Kicking and Screaming is not the 2005 Will Ferrell soccer farce; it's an archetypal mid-1990s indie flick about a bunch of hyper-chatty college graduates wondering what life might hold for them. Fortunately, between all the yammer, the bras of Perrey Reeves and Kaela Dobkin, at least momentarily, hold nothing.
SILENT HILL (2006)

THE SKINNY: The video-game adaptation Silent Hill rousingly reproduces all the shotguns and spookery of its source material in its tale of a MILF (Radha Mitchell) on the lookout for her missing daughter in a very literal ghost town. Improving on the original is the presence of Tanya Allen, who flashes tail at the one-hour-twenty-seven-minute mark.
THE VIKING SAGAS (1995)

THE SKINNY: Grab your Hagar-the-Horrible hat and be prepared to add a third horn to your Nordic get-up as you get a load of The Viking Sagas. This rollicking action romp chronicles the sword-clashing adventures of various muscled specimens of ancient Scandinavia, one of whom is Ingibj?Stef?d?r, who will get you as hard as it is to properly pronounce her name.

CHRISTIE MALRY'S OWN DOUBLE-ENTRY (2000)

THE SKINNY: The title comes off as tantalizingly pornographic. Alas, Christie Malry's Own Double-Entry is actually about financial accounting. The "double-entry" is a reference to book-keeping. And "Christie" is a dude. Kate Ashfield, however, is most decidedly female, a point she proves during a pair of topless shots.
EPITAFIOS: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON (2004)

THE SKINNY: The Spanish-language series Epitafios is the first original project produced by HBO Latin America. It details the aftermath of the night that a teacher took his students hostage and ignited all manner of death and unpleasantness. The story picks up five years after the classroom incident, exploring murders that seemed to have been unrelated, as well as the left lung balloon of eye-pleasing Paola Krum.
NIP/TUCK: THE COMPLETE THIRD SEASON (2005)

THE SKINNY: Season Three of the FX Network's crazily controversial plastic-surgery drama Nip/Tuck (Picture: 1 - 2) arrives on DVD with all its outrages intact. Amidst the gory operations, and other rabble-rousing goodies are bona fide bare bits, including group sex involving Kelly Carlson and Rhona Mitra.
HOT TAMALE (2006)

THE SKINNY: The rough-and-tumble action-comedy Hot Tamale tracks Wyoming-native Harlan (Randy Spelling) on a wild trip deep into the pimp-laden, hitman-overrun heart of the Los Angeles that only exists in direct-to-DVD movies. Writer-director Michael Damian supplies an admirable amount of laughs and gasps, while Kristen Caldwell and Diora Baird add spice by serving up their own very hot chest tamales.

Private (originally titled Fallo!) is an anthology of six sexually charged romance stories involving the impossibly perfect European knockouts for which Tinto is world-famous. And, naturally, the real stars of Private are its female cast members' private parts.
SAVAGE SINEMA FROM DOWN UNDER

THE SKINNY: Australian filmmaker Mark Savage has made an impressive effort to live up to both his evocative surname and his homeland's past as a refuge for outlaws. Savage Sinema from Down Under collects three of the violent visionary's most over-the-top efforts: Marauders (1986), Sensitive New-Age Killer (2000), and Defenceless (2004). Savage's gore-drenched, angst-enflamed explorations of crime and punishment have been given a worthily first-class treatment here by Subversive Cinema and are worth watching for more than just the nude parts. But we sure do love those nude parts.
SECRETS OF A CALL GIRL (1973)

THE SKINNY: Skinternational sex siren Edwige Fenech makes for a mouth-watering central character in the Italian gangland potboiler Secrets of a Call Girl. Corrado Pani plays a Mafia baddie who messes with the mind (and body) of Edwige, who takes on the title role. And, of course, she also takes off her clothes. A lot.
STORY OF A CLOSITERED NUN (1973)

THE SKINNY: Second only to grindhouse movies that fetishize Nazi Germany, "nunsploitation" is one low-brow cinema genre that, truly, could only have arisen in the 1970s. Naturally no country concocted more tawdry looks behind convent walls than the one that the Pope calls home. The Italian-honed Story of a Cloistered Nun dramatizes what happens when a wayward lass (Eleonora Giorgi) defies her father over an arranged marriage and gets shipped off for straightening out at the Perverted Penguin Factory. Eleonora's nakedness is rivaled in frequency only by the amount of times that one or more secluded Sisters have at her with a whip. Have mercy!
A WHISPER IN THE DARK (1976)

THE SKINNY: Ghostly goings-on float through the Italian thriller A Whisper in the Dark, as a young mother (Nathalie Delon) wigs out when her son starts communicating with the spirit of his dead older brother. Gothic atmosphere permeates this Venice-set scare-fest, prompting Lucretia Love to raise the dead in viewers' pants by lifting her shirt and offering us a look.
