It seems like you're nobody in Hollywood these days unless you've been on both sides of the camera, and Scarlett Johansson is eager to be somebody.
The actress announced this week that she'll be making her directorial debut next year with Summer Crossing, a coming-of-age tale set in 1940s New York and based on a novella by Breakfast at Tiffany's author Truman Capote. No word yet on whether or not Scarlett will cast herself in the lead role...or talk herself into doing a nude scene.
But Scarlett's far from the first sexy actress to step into the director's chair- let's rub down some notable examples:
Nudity Hall-of-Famer Angelina Jolie is currently working on her directorial debut, The Land of Blood and Honey, which hits theaters December 23, 2011. In the meantime, get your blood pumping with Angelina's honeypot in Original Sin (2001).
But her fellow Hall-of-Famer Drew Barrymore beat Angie to the punch, directing Whip It back in 2009. Speaking of punching, if you like your women aggressive, you'll be whipping it to Drew, Zoe Bell, and Ellen Page as ass-kicking, panty-clad roller derby girls in the movie.
Jodie Foster has been directing movies off and on since the early '90s, most recently Mel Gibson's comeback attempt in the utterly bizarre The Beaver (2011). And speaking of beaver, you can check out Jodie's jugs and juicebox in Backtrack (1991).
At this point, Indie darling Sarah Polley is better known as a director than as an actress; she's got seven titles under her belt, (sk)including the upcoming full-frontal debut of comedienne Sarah Silverman in Take This Waltz (2012), which also features Michelle Williams nude.
And of course we can't forget the ultimate quintuple threat, Barbara Streisand, who's not only directed six movies, she's written, produced, and starred in many more, all while maintaining a successful singing career. That's amazing, Babs- almost as great as your lone moment of onscreen nudity in The Owl and the Pussycat (1970). Me-ow!
