RIPLEY (2024-)

No Nudity

Review

Netflix’s noirish, black-and-white series adaptation of the Patricia Highsmith novel stars Andrew Scott as the titular conman, whom we first meet scrounging around in New York running petty scams like posing as a fake debt collector. He ends up getting an offer from wealthy shipping magnate Herbert Greenleaf (Kenneth Lonergan) to travel to Atrani on the Amalfi coast in southern Italy and persuade the man’s son Dickie (Johnny Flynn) to stop lounging around Europe and come back to the States. When he gets there though he decides to cozy up to Dickie, who’s living the high life with his girlfriend Marge (Dakota Fanning), and the closer he and Dickie get, the more suspicious Marge becomes, especially after one of their friends (Eliot Sumner) mysteriously dies. We, however, can’t get over how Dakota looks in her swimsuit as she takes a dip in the ocean with Johnny and Andrew. Much like Ripley, we’re obsessed!
