Is Rebecca Hall a scream queen? Quite possibly! She's quicking amassing a number of fantastic horror roles, including 2020's The Night House as well as the buzzy brand new Resurrection, now available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime. These are in addition to Hall's roles in fright flicks The Gift and The Awakening. So what is the viral new psychological horror movie Resurrection about? Well, you won't believe us, but we will tell you anyway. (Major spoilers ahead).
In Resurrection Hall plays Margaret, a career woman and the single mother of a teen girl. Margaret is confronted by her past when a man in his 60s, David (played by Tim Roth), appears seemingly out of nowhere and begins to purposefully cross paths with Hall in public. We find out that he's her abusive lover from when she was just 18 years old. Again, these are huge spoilers, so skip to the gallery at the bottom of this page if you want to experience the insane twists and turns in Resurrection for yourself!
Margaret had a baby with David when she was a teen, but he was too jealous and controlling to allow her this happiness, so he - wait for it - ate the baby, named Ben. Then David proceeded to tell teen Margaret that the baby remained alive in his stomach, and that she needed to endure bizarre tasks called "kindnesses" at his request in order to keep the baby healthy.
Cut to the present day, when Margaret is quickly losing her mind as she is faced with the reappearance of her past abuser. David maintains that the baby Ben is still inside his stomach after all of these years, and a small part of her can't say for certain that he's lying. David's subtle threats toward Margaret's teen daughter empower her to fight for both of her children. So what does she do? She slices David open to retrieve Ben! But will Ben really be alive inside of David, or will be exposed as concocting the most insane lie to ever be told? We'll leave that little detail for you to discover on your own.
