Our Kind of People (2021)

The television show Our Kind of People debuted on FOX in the fall of 2021 and is set on the exclusive community of Oak Bluffs, located on Massachusetts' Martha's Vineyard. The community is comprised almost exclusively of the most wealthy and powerful black people in America and single mother Angela Vaughn (Yaya DaCosta) has come to Oak Bluffs in hopes of reclaiming and rehabbing her family name. As the creator and CEO of a company that makes hair care and beauty products aimed at helping black people highlight their innate and natural beauty, Angela is a strong willed woman who will stop at nothing to ensure that she is recognized and rewarded for her own merits. However, a dark secret buried in the town's past involving Angela's mother may make it impossible for her to ever integrate herself into this exclusive community and Angela's about to learn that while we may be through with the past, the past isn't through with us. Based on the 1999 book of the same name, Our Kind of People is an unapologetically soapy and lurid show that leans into the same melodramatic tendencies that made past FOX shows like Empire such runaway smash hits. Of course, since we're dealing with a show on network television, there's not going to be any nudity to speak of. Thankfully there's sexiness galore, with series star Yaya DaCosta showing off plenty of cleavage in the show's first two episodes and supporting star Nadine Ellis also giving great cleavage while having a little afternoon delight with her husband after church! Our Kind of People is our kind of show!
