Miley Cyrus accepted the Vanguard Award at the Los Angeles LGBT Center's 46th anniversary gala over the weekend, and she commemorated the event in the most Miley of ways: by licking the piano.
Just Bein' Miley
In her defense, the behemoth thing sold for $50,000 after she did it, proving once again that Miley might be moderately nuts, but her sometimes odd behavior benefits the rest of us immensely. Exhibit A: her award, which she received for her tremendous work in the LGBT community thanks to her Happy Hippie Foundation. Miley came out to her mother as bisexual at the tender age of 14, though she's since adjusted the labelor absence of one. Today, she credits the LGBT Center for allowing her to truly express herself.
Now, this child-star-turned-almost-nudist identifies as pansexual, a term that exists under the umbrella of bisexuality but transcends it in certain way. Instead of referencing the attraction to both the male and female genders, it refutes the need for a rigid gender binary altogether. Pansexuals are unconcerned with the gender or sex of their partners and is generally more inclusive to transgender, intersex, and androgynous persons. The label in itself is almost a paradox, as pansexuals say they are who they are today, as is their sexuality.
