UK native Jessie Mei Li (her surname is pronounced May Lee) is among the most exciting new discoveries of the new millennium! Like a good number of other actresses of her generation, Jessie started out on stage, performing in shows like the 2019 stage adaptation of All About Eve (1950) starring Gillian Anderson and Lily James. Jessie played Miss Casswell, the role originated by another Skin legend Marilyn Monroe! The National Theatre Live released a filmed version of the show if you want to check it out, it's interesting to see Jessie doing her best Marilyn! Jessie was discovered by acclaimed genre director Edgar Wright to play the lead in his seventh feature film Last Night in Soho (2021), which landed her firmly on the radar of every geek in film land! While everyone was waiting with 'bated breath to see what that flick would turn out to be, Jessie stealthily snuck off and became the lead on the Netflix big budget fantasy series Shadow and Bone, released in the spring of 2021! Here Jessie plays Alina Starkov, a woman possessing supernatural powers in a dystopian future, who may prove to be the messianic figure foretold of in prophecy that will free the people of her land from bondage. Or something, who knows? We're too distracted by the sight of Jessie Mei Li's knockout nude debut in the opening of episode three!
