Today's director for our Female Filmmakers series is a standout! She is skincredibly talented in front of the camera and behind it. She has gone nude and she has directed nudity and she continues to do both. Let's take a look at the career of French director Melanie Laurent!
Melanie Laurent is a major star and it is truly impressive starlet. The French babe was born and raised in Paris where she visited a movie set with a friend when she was only a teenager. That is when French actor Gerard Depardieu told the pretty young lady that she should act. She took that advice to heart!
She took acting classes and was cast by Depardieu in 1999's The Bridge. She appeared in several films in the 2000s, won a Cesar Award, and was even cast in Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds in 2009. She has worked with major US stars like Angelina Jolie and Jake Gyllenhaal. But that is all in her acting career alone - which, don't worry, she has been skintastic plenty of times.
She turned her attention towards directing because Melanie truly loves filmmaking. She directed a short film 2008 and a TV movie before gathering the courage and abilities to make her feature film debut. In 2011, Melanie directed The Adopted which adopted some sexy scenes. The film tells the story of two sisters who do everything together...until one starts dating a new man.
Marie Denarnaud plays one of the sisters and Melanie herself plays the other. Marie shows off her big breasts before getting out of bed to reveal her bush.
She continued her directing career even though her next two films did not include any nudity. Luckily, that would not last long! In 2017, she directed the film Diving which stars the gorgeous Maria Valverde as a photographer who ditches her family life to become a deep sea diver. We would love to dive right in between those two bouncing breasts.
The following year she directed the American drama Galveston which starred Elle Fanning. This film did not have any nudity, but it did showcase Elle's cleavage and acting abilities. It also showed Ms. Laurent's directing skills to an American audience!
For her fifth feature length film, Melanie Laurent directed the Amazon Original flick The Mad Women's Ball. This 2021 thriller follows the insides of a 19th century psychiatric hospital in Paris. Lou de Laage plays a wealthy woman who is sent there by her father after she tells him that she can communicate with the dead. In modern times, we would simply call her a medium. In those days? They called her crazy!
Well, she makes us crazy about her when we watch Lou get bathed totally nude. There are quite a few very naked women in this movie, including a lot of uncredited extras who go nude in different scenes.
What is Melanie Laurent up to next? Two more full-length films! She directed The Nightingale which is currently in post-production and will once again star Elle Fanning. After that, she will have the French film Wingwomen which promises to be something of a heist movie. That's exciting! Let's hope that the stars get their clothes snatched off their body for one last job.
