Donyale Luna Nude

A groundbreaking supermodel who gained international fame, Donyale grew up Peggy Ann Freeman in Detroit, Michigan, before leaving her tumultuous childhood behind to live in New York and pursue acting and modeling in 1964. Her first modeling job was a shoot for Mademoiselle and in January of 1965, a drawing of her was used for the cover of Harper’s Bazaar magazine, making her the first black person to even be on the cover. She made history again by being the first black woman on the cover of British Vogue and in 1966, American Vogue named her Model of the Year. Still wanting to be an actress, she jumped at chances to trade the catwalk for the film camera, appearing in Camp (1965), Blow Up (1966), Who Are You, Polly Maggoo? (1966), Skidoo (1968), Fellini Satyricon (1969), and Salome (1972). Donyale would strip off those seven veils as the titular Salome, and her topless scene was eventually included in the 2023 documentary Donyale Luna: Supermodel. She would sadly pass away in 1979 at just thirty-three years of age, but she left a plethora of skinsational pics behind to remember her by!
