Ashley Blue: The Mr. Skin Interview

Some of the awards she has racked up include the 2004 AVN Award for Female Performer of the Year, the 2005 AVN Award for Best All-Girl Sex Scene, and the 2007 AVN Award for Most Outrageous Sex Scene.

Her new movie Sugar Town comes out on Vivid Alt in November.

Ashley recently took some time out to discuss her thoughts on art, squirting, televised litigation and Julian “Warlock” Sands with Maximilian Mueller.

I read in one of your Luke Ford interviews that you wanted to lose your virginity because you wanted to know why there were movies about sex? What movies about sex had you seen?

Nothing pornographic at that time. I was only thirteen. I watched a lot of HBO in my bedroom late at night. Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing, Indecent Proposal, The Piano, Boxing Helena, Threesome.

I was more curious about the fact that these movies talked so much about sex, but never showed the actual dick going inside. What the hell? What made it so sacred? I had to just see for myself.

Do you remember the first nudity in a mainstream movie you ever saw? Is there a story behind that?

A Room With A View was the first movie I ever saw with full frontal, male nudity. There’s a scene in a lake with multiple men frolicking around with their uncut cocks swinging around. One of them is Julian Sands, who I thought was very handsome. I consider that the first real nudity because boobs have never been shocking or that impressive to me.

Some actresses say that they had their first lesbian experience or anal sex while doing a movie. You’ve done a lot of intense sex on camera. Did you do most of your kinky stuff for the first time on film or had you been experimenting sexually before? What were your on-screen firsts?

Doing sex scenes can put you into situations that would normally not happen in a regular life. Porn has made it possible for me to have my first gangbang (7 The Hard Way), to fry a pan of 60 guy’s loads (American Bukkake), my first Ass To Mouth (Spring Chickens), my first bondage (Bondage and Perversion in L.A.), the first time I tried to drink piss (Pissmops 2), etc., etc., that’s all I can remember.

I had already been doing d.p.’s, anal, and double anal before I started doing porn.

Whoa! Sounds like you let an exciting life even before you became a porn star! If someone were making a biopic about Ashley Blue, who would you want to play you?

Bjork.

I can see that. What famous woman would you like to portray in her life story?

Arianna Huffington.

You directed and starred in Lesbian Bukkake. What was it like to direct yourself?

I was too fucked up to really remember. It’s fair to say that Jim Powers directed most of the time for me.

What are your thoughts on directing in general?

I think it’s a very honorable job and it’s not easy. Some movies may be bigger than others, porn or mainstream, but it’s still cool to be the director of anything. I don’t want to be one. However, I do respect it.

Now that you’ve seen a lot of female ejaculation up close, can you explain what it is? Or do you have any ideas to share?

Fake squirting is done by filling up a girl with douche water. I’ve never squirted, ever. To be honest, I don’t really want to. It’s totally cool for other girls to do it, and I do believe that it’s real. I just don’t care for vaginal tricks that much. I’m into anal.

Speaking of which, how do you prepare to do a movie like that? Do you prepare differently for different kinds of sexual situations?

I do about five hours of enemas, over the course of two days. It prepares my butt for things to go in and out multiple times. Other than that, the other preparations are just grooming procedures.

For me, I like to have short, clean nails, in case I need to finger someone. It’s always nice to have freshly shaved armpits too.That looks nice on camera. I don’t know. There are lots of things, I guess.

Who are your favorite actors and actresses to work with?

For women, it’s Belladonna. She’s the best.Only she has that quality that is so special, authentic and sincere. There will never be someone who comes along that can even come close to this woman’s talent as a performer.

With men, there are many that are very good that I’ve worked with, but I don’t really have a favorite. The best scenes are when the guys can get weird and really into it. The most entertaining ones are: Dirty Harry, Tony T., Mr. Marcus, Brian Pumper, Alec Knight, Jay Ashley, Gorgeous Dre, and Alex Sanders.

How is your life different now from how it was in 2005?

I’m now 27, instead of 24. In those three years I have grown up SO MUCH. I’m not doing coke and going to bars every minute of my existence. In fact, I don’t do drugs at all now I even gave up cigarettes and tanning for the love of my boyfriend.

Are you painting regularly now? What’s that like?

I am a painter and I try to complete something once a week.I need to do it more, but sometimes I just draw in charcoal, pencil, pastel or crayon. I love to make stuff with my hands. It’s the beauty and the decoration that I want to create.

Sometimes when I’m too intimidated to use paint, I cook things. Cooking is an even more freeing medium for me to create in, because the materials smell so good.

What artists have inspired you?

Lucian Freud, Dali, Van Gogh, Mike Kelley, [Jeff] Koons, John Singer Sargent, Frida Kahlo, [Amedeo] Modigliani, Gaugin, Miguel Angel Reyes, Dave Naz, Larry Clark, Harmony Korine, Henry Miller, Tom of Finland, Julius Shulman, Wolfgang Tillmans, Damien Hirst, etc., etc.

What’s your favorite sex scene in a mainstream movie?

The fisting scene at the leather bar in Cruising.

Good choice. Who do you think is the hottest actress in Hollywood today?

Bijou Phillips.

Who do you think is the hottest actress of a past era?

Elizabeth Taylor.

Why did you decide to go on Judge Mathis in 2003? What was that like?

My ex-boyfriend was being a loser, and wouldn’t pay me back the money I loaned him I was insane with jealousy of his new girlfriend, so I filed a small claims suit against him in L.A. The Judge Mathis Show contacted us and told us that if we went to Chicago to be on the show, they’d pay off the debt.

It was the ultimate grudge match. I’m really happy that we were able to take out our frustration and get paid for it.

What are the best and worst things about being a porn-actress?

The best part is not feeling like I have a real job. I’m one of the lucky ones. Especially when I actually do go on a set, and all the focus is on me! Porn truly is a confidence booster.
