Jim McBride - Mr Skin
The Mr. Skin story begins in the early 1980s. That’s when Jim McBride was a suburban teen with an obsessive eye for famous ladies and a flawless memory for which he had not yet found an ideal use. Then cable TV and a VCR came to the McBride home.Immediately, young Jim consumed PG and R–rated movies nonstop, edited together tapes of the films’ nude scenes, and permanently memorized the exact times, descriptions and other specifics of every bare moment. When friends would ask about a specific star or title, Jim never failed to deliver the facts and figures — instantly and accurately. Jim honed his one-of-a-kind skill throughout college and during a work stint at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, amazing all comers. After a local radio host witnessed this party trick at a bar, he invited Jim to show it off on the air. At that moment, this astounding ability made Jim McBride a star. All he needed was a nickname, and he found the perfect one: “Mr. Skin.”
In August 1999, Jim took his celebrity nudity expertise online, launching MrSkin.com from a single computer in his one–bedroom bachelor pad. Within five minutes, the site attracted a paying customer.
In March 2000, Mr. Skin made his first of many visits to The Howard Stern Show, and he has since become one of the most in–demand guests on radio. Mr. Skin regularly appears on hundreds of programs, ranging from morning guy talk to Hollywood gossip shows to National Public Radio. And Howard Stern continues to air The Mr. Skin Minute each week. Always a successful business, MrSkin.com has evolved into a major pop–culture phenomenon, most notably turning up as a key plot–point in the blockbuster comedy Knocked Up (2007). Throughout a decade of ever–increasing growth, Mr. Skin has expanded beyond the website to author two best–selling books, produce original videos for the DVD and online markets, and emerge as a leading men’s lifestyle brand.
The company now manages an international staff from a stylish, high–tech base of operations in Chicago.
Mr. Skin lives near his fabled office with a real–life Mrs. Skin and their three children.
