Zwei Asse und ein König (1999)

In the German mystery Zwei Asse und ein König (1999), a ship owner’s son-in-law takes over the deceased man’s business and turns it into a corrupt enterprise that won’t float. Dr. Helge Lührs (Michael Mendl) reacts to his newfound corporate power by indulging his avarice at any cost. When a marine biologist questions whether the company’s been ignoring environmental restrictions for profit, Inspector Jan de Fries (Heiner Lauterbach) takes up the case, vowing to hold Dr. Lührs accountable to the law. Although it’s mostly a pissing contest between men, director Bernd Fischerauer packs his thriller with plenty of sexual intrigue by getting excellent mileage out of beautiful co-stars Iris Böhm, Karin Giegerich, and Claudine Wilde, all of whom appear delightfully in the buff.
